Marketing Major

A major in marketing provides students with a broad overview of the functional areas of business with an emphasis in marketing.  Students complete foundation courses in economics, finance, accounting, management, and information systems, while developing essential skills in communication, creative thinking, quantitative analysis, effective selling, and strategic planning.  Through completion of the marketing major curriculum, students attain an understanding of key marketing concepts and develop an ability to formulate, implement, and evaluate product, pricing, promotion, and distribution strategies.  A major in marketing prepares the student for entrance into careers in advertising, marketing management, retailing, marketing research, and professional selling.

A total of 69 semester hours is required for the Marketing major. Note that 12 of these required credit hours may be completed as part of the General Education requirements.  In order to double-major in Marketing and another discipline, students are required to complete a minimum of 24 credit hours of unique coursework within each major's required and elective (non-general education) courses.  Students majoring in Marketing must satisfactorily complete:

Upper-Level Economics Elective


Complete one ECO elective at the 300 or 400 level.

International Business Elective


Complete one course from the following:
