HON 402 - Honors Capstone III Credits: 1
Prerequisite(s): HON 401
- The Honors Capstone Sequence (HON 400, 401, 402) is composed of one-credit hour courses where honors students complete their capstone project. Selected Student will present their projects to students in HON 200 /HON 201 , HON 300 , or to a public audience on Honors Day. The students primary mentor will be listed as the instructor for each course in the sequence.
- After completing HON 300 , students will enroll in HON 400 in the subsequent semester and remain in the sequence until they graduate or complete the sequence.
- Honors students must submit their capstone projects to their committees at least ten weeks before either the end of their graduating semester or their completion of HON 402. Honors students will have a formal defense of their capstone projects. Their defense must take place either eight weeks before the end of their graduating semester or their completion of HON 402. The committee will evaluate the student’s capstone project and decide whether the project has been successfully completed.
- Six weeks before the end of their graduating semester, honors students must submit honors portfolios. The centerpiece of the honors portfolio is the student’s capstone project, and it also includes all major work and accomplishments the student completed in the program. The Director evaluates the honors portfolio to determine whether or not the student graduates with honors program recognitions.
- If a student will be away during their final semester (participating in study abroad, internship, etc.), they have the option of defending their final project during their previous semester on campus, or – with the approval of their committee – defending in absentia.
This course will be graded on a Pass/Fail basis.
