SLS 202 - American Sign Language II Credits: 3
Prerequisite(s): a minimum of a “C-” in SLS 201 or ASL Placement Test Score equivalency. The second in the series of four SLS offerings, this course is designed as a continuation and expansion of the skills and competencies addressed in SLS 201 , with an increased emphasis on expressive and receptive skills as well as appropriate sociocultural behaviors specific to interacting with the Deaf community. Students will develop ASL grammar and syntax as well as skills in the use of classifiers, space, grammatical markers, and modulation of signs to denote time and location. Weekly participation in ASL Lab activities and Deaf community events is required. This course is open to all Flagler College students. Enrollment preference is given to Deaf Education majors.
