REL 325WI - Islam and Politics

What is Islam? What do people who call themselves Muslims believe, and what is the particular dynamic of their ethics and politics at this moment in time? These questions and others will be addressed in this course, which in the first half will give an overview and introduction to Islam itself, as well as an opportunity to read the Koran, and respond to some critical questions regarding the Muslim faith. In the second half of the course, important Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the Palestinians, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan will be examined. This course is cross listed as INT 325WI and POS 325WI.
