CRW 410 - Publishing and Editing Credits: 3
Prerequisite(s): CRW 205WI , CRW 206WI , and senior standing. Publishing and Editing is for advanced writers interested in developing professionally as teachers and/or editors. The course will provide hands-on guidance in polishing, submitting, and publishing critical and/or creative work. Review of a portfolio of critical and/or creative work is required to enroll in the course. A portfolio of work must be submitted in the semester prior to the semester the course is offered; enrollment is at the professor’s discretion. The course will cover many aspects of publishing, including but not limited to studying the guidelines for submitting manuscripts to undergraduate research venues as well as to journals that publish creative work; revising and editing manuscripts with an eye to publication, responding to Calls for Papers (CFPs), applying to conference venues. During the semester, students will consider publishing rights, funding proposals, and digital publishing. Students are required to submit a manuscript/manuscripts to a publishing venue they wish to work with and/or submit their work to FLARE.
