ENG 422 - American Realism and Naturalism

Prerequisite(s): Junior standing; ENG 221WI  and ENG 222WI .
Intensive study of the Realist and Naturalist period of American literature (1860s-1900s). The course examines the influence of Realism and Naturalism in a limited number of classic works in American literature, including works by Twain, Howells, Bierce, Garland, Davis, James, Chopin, London, Crane, Wharton, and Dreiser.
