ECO 365 - Economics of Inequality in the U.S. Credits: 3
Prerequisite(s): ECO 101WI or ECO 211 . This course examines income inequality in the U.S. Topics include urban poverty, employment discrimination, crime and the criminal justice system, affirmative action, immigration, and low wage labor markets. Inequality of opportunity is highlighted, including the role of parents, schools, health care, neighborhoods, income, and race in determining children’s long-term labor market success. Implications of these findings for U.S. public policy are also examined.
