ENG 172WI - Topics in College Writing: Honors

Credits: 3

Prerequisite(s): Placement or consent of instructor.
An honors program in persuasive and argumentative writing for students who demonstrate considerable ability. A series of short papers, including documentation or critical analysis, is required. A term paper or research project may also be required. Formal writing assignments build in complexity, and topics may vary. Students who earn a grade of “D+,” “D,” “F,” or “WF” in ENG 172 must retake the course until they achieve a grade of “C-” or higher. First-year honors program students will be enrolled in ENG 172WI. (Note: Score cut-offs for placement into ENG 172WI may be waived by the Director of the honors program, in consultation with the Director of College Writing, for those students whose AR otherwise merits an invitation to the honors program.)
