ENG 202WI - Introduction to Literature Credits: 3
Prerequisite(s): ENG 152WI or ENG 172WI . This course is designed to give students an introduction to various genres of literature and to basic methods of reading and literary analysis common in the academic study of literature. Instruction and assignments will also facilitate continued development of academic writing skills in sequence with ENG 142 /ENG 152WI /ENG 172WI , including and introduction to analyzing and writing with secondary sources. Students will engage with multiple literary genres, which may include poetry, novels, plays, short fiction, or creative nonfiction. Course themes and readings may vary with instructor. Students who earn a grade of “D+,” “D,” “F,” or “WF” in ENG 202 must retake the course until they achieve a grade of “C-” or higher.
