REL 315 - Buddhism and Asia

A course designed to examine religious, political, and significant historical themes in Asia, especially as they are concerned with Buddhism. The first half of the course is mainly dedicated to matters of religion and history of Buddhism and Asia, while the second half looks at issues in international affairs and politics through the study of major figures like B.R. Ambedkar, the Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Aung San Suu Kyi.  Comparative, religious, and historical in its interest, the course is intended to be interdisciplinary in focus.
