Public History Minor

Students minoring in Public History must take a minimum of 6 courses (18 credit hours). The minor requirements for History majors differs from that for other majors, as indicated below.

Minor for non-History Majors
- HIS 165: Intro to Public History
- 2 History courses at the 300 or 400 level
- 2 Public History Methods courses
- HIS 324: Museum Studies
- HIS 325: Heritage Tourism
- HIS 329: Oral History
- HIS 340: Selected Topics
- 1 Internship (HIS 481, 482, 483)
Minor for History Majors
- HIS 165: Intro to Public History
- 2 Public History Methods courses
- HIS 324: Museum Studies
- HIS 325: Heritage Tourism
- HIS 329: Oral History
- HIS 340: Selected Topics (by Director approval)
- 2 courses outside the discipline (from approved list, see Public History Major page)
- 1 Internship (HIS 481, 482, or 483)
**History majors may not double-count courses for the minor and their major. No student may double-count courses in their major for their minor (ex: If a History major is also an Anthropology major, they may not count a course twice if wishing to include an Anthropology course as an elective for the minor.)**
