A major in marketing provides students with a broad overview of the functional areas of business with an emphasis in marketing. Students complete foundation courses in economics, finance, accounting, management, and information systems, while developing essential skills in communication, creative thinking, quantitative analysis, effective selling, and strategic planning. Through completion of the marketing major curriculum, students attain an understanding of key marketing concepts and develop an ability to formulate, implement, and evaluate product, pricing, promotion, and distribution strategies. A major in marketing prepares the student for entrance into careers in advertising, marketing management, retailing, marketing research, and professional selling.
