Spanish Placement Exam
A placement exam is offered in Spanish that can be taken at the start or toward the end of the term. If a student places into a higher level Spanish course, he/she can earn up to 6 credit hours if they pass the class with a B or better. For example, if students place into SPA 201 , they can earn 6 credit hours for SPA 101 and 102 if they complete SPA 201 with a B or better. Native speakers although exempted from the placement test, they can earn up to 6 credit hours for lower level courses (SPA 101 , 102 , 201 , and 202 ) after they earn a B or better in a higher level course.
Study Abroad
All majors and minors are encouraged to participate in Flagler College study abroad. Only six (6) credits can be applied to Spanish major and three (3) to minor. See Study Abroad Office for information and further planning.
Heritage Speakers
Heritage speakers must take a placement test to determine the course level. After that they follow the requirements for major or minor.
Major for Native Speakers
Native speakers are required to complete nine (9) courses of Spanish beginning at SPA 307 or higher. They are exempted from taking the placement test.
